Meet our February Foxy Moxy- Jamie!
When asked to write a little something about why I am both “Moxy” and “Main”, I realized I really am a little bit of both, in all aspects of my life. I am an entrepreneur, a mother, a sister, a fundraiser, a friend, a daughter, a wife, a non-profit board member, a boss, an aunt…the list goes on. But if you were to ask me for one word to describe myself, I would say I am a connector. You know the saying “if you want something done give it to someone who is busy”? That defines me. I never stop moving.
After starting my career in PR and events, then spending many years in corporate HR and 2 years helping to run the Hoboken location of Kidville, I joined my family’s staffing business, Choice Associates, in 2011. My sister, Marissa, and I manage the Fashion and Media division (www.choicecofashion.com). We help companies find the best talent out there and coach candidates in finding their next best gig – in other words, we are glorified matchmakers. Because of what I do for a living, I am constantly making connections…whether it’s introducing 2 friends who live close to one another, helping a new business get off the ground, or thinking of new cool ways (like a SoulCycle ride!) for my sister to promote her children’s book, my passion for helping people is an innate piece of who I am. On my days home with Sammy, you might find me taking a class at Local Barre or Prime Cycle before running to pick him up at Mimi Kids Yoga, working/chatting at Starbucks, or running to my local favorites, Dear Hannah, Big Fun, or Hudson’s House of Play in West New York. I also sit on the board of an awesome non-profit dance studio in East Harlem called Groove with Me, so you might also catch me doing some planning for our upcoming gala (www.groovewwithme.org). I love to try new restaurants with my husband, Dave – you have to try Porta in Jersey City! And if it’s anywhere close to October, you most definitely will find me in Toni and Guy planning our annual streaking event with Sarah and all of the ladies of Moxy and Main in honor of my most favorite breast cancer survivor, my mama J.
As you can see, I really am a little bit of Moxy and a little bit of Main. I am so proud to support my dear friend Sarah in this new venture and to be featured as the February Foxy Moxy!
