What Her Blog Is All About

ffm-logoI created Fit Fab Mommy as a way to help fellow moms and moms-to-be learn how to live a healthy and fabulous life. With tips on nutrition, fitness, fashion and family as well as my real life stories about being a mom, I hope to inspire all moms out there to get healthy together. Just because we are moms doesn’t mean we have to lose ourselves. Being a fit fab mommy means that you are in control of your health and your life. My blog is just a cheat sheet to make your chaotic life easier and an outlet to let you know that we are all in this together. It’s just one mom helping another.

How I Got Started

I started in the glamorous world of Beauty and Fashion PR just out of college. I climbed my way up the corporate ladder working for companies such as Estee Lauder Companies and L’Oreal. I loved what I did (most of the time) and I was good at it, but something was missing. I knew I wanted to do something else, but I didn’t know what. One day my husband asked me “What are you passionate about?” No one had really ever asked me that before. And just like that a light bulb clicked. I am passionate about health and fitness; I am passionate about helping others; I enjoy working out and eating healthy. As the saying goes if you do what you love you never work a day in your life. So I made the transition from Beauty and Fashion PR Exec to Registered Dietitian. I started my journey over 5 years ago by going back to school and getting my BS in Nutrition and Food Science. I completed my Dietetic Internship, took my exam, and I am officially a Registered Dietitian! Along the way I got married, had two beautiful baby girls, 3 years old and 10 months old, and I never regret one day of it. It’s been challenging at times, don’t get me wrong. I often struggle with trying to find time to work and be a super mom (I’m totally type A). It isn’t always easy, but I feel so lucky to be doing what I love and to be able to make my own schedule while being so involved in my children’s lives. While it may take me a little longer, I put my heart and soul into everything I do.

Why It’s Important to Me
FamilymelissaAs a mom I know the struggles we go through during and after pregnancy. Our lives completely change, as do our bodies. Staying healthy during and post pregnancy is very important, but not always easy. Most of us put the baby and our kids first. You are important too, because if you are not healthy in mind and body, then how can you be a super mom (or at least get through the day)! A happy mom is a healthy mom and that leads to a happy, healthy baby and family. During pregnancy I was able to continue to eat healthy, exercise and gain a healthy weight and post pregnancy I was able to get back in shape fairly easy and I contribute that to what I did while pregnant. Friends and family always ask me how I do it so I thought, why not share it with all the moms and moms-to-be out there. And that is how Fit Fab Mommy was born! I offer tips on nutrition, fitness, family and fashion so that you can be the fit fab mommy that you deserve to be. We are all in this together! I also provide nutritional counseling. If you would like to learn more about the services I provide go to Gosser Nutrition.
